If you are looking to keep costs down by embarking on a self-drive tour of Iceland or if you prefer to run to your own schedule, you have a couple of options for getting yourself around the island.
Option one would be to hire several cars and travel together in convoy. Whilst this offers additional flexibility, allowing members of your party to go their separate ways if they choose, you’ll be paying for everything twice, or even three times depending on how many people you’re travelling with.
