Insurance Packages

All of our rental prices come with Third Party Liability Insurance, Collision Damage Waiver, Super Collision Damage Waiver, Theft Protect and with 150.000 ISK excess/driver liability (Silver Package).

We strongly recommend adding extended coverage to reduce your liability. Iceland is prone to extreme weather conditions, gravel roads, and unpredictable terrain that can cause damage to your hire car — without additional insurance, you would be responsible for these costs out of pocket.

If you are insured through a third-party provider such as a credit card or insurance company, you will first pay Lotus Car Rental for any damage and then seek reimbursement through your provider. Adding the Gold Package reduces your deductible to 65,000 ISK; the Platinum Package reduces it to 0 ISK.

Roadside Protection Premium is available as an optional add-on for any insurance tier, covering callouts for flat tires, lost keys, out of fuel, flat battery, F-road rescue, and 24/7 roadside assistance.

If all optional insurance coverage is declined, a deposit of 500,000 ISK will be required at pick-up. If you are not ready to decide now, insurance can always be added at the counter — the price is the same online and at pick-up.
