Powered by a twin-turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel motor engine with a seven-speed dual-clutch DSG transmission; you'll enjoy smooth acceleration (0-60mph in 11.3 seconds) with seamless changes. The VW Caravelle also features speed-sensitive power steering and a climate control system with separate controls for the rear seat occupants. For added security whilst driving it also features anti-lock brakes, traction control and an electronic stability system.
It is one of our larger rental minivans that seats 9 passengers comfortably with plenty of room for luggage. The interior space is impressive with the seating layout comprised of two arm-chairs in the front and two more behind with a three-seater bench in the back row. The luggage area is behind the third row and can hold several large pieces of luggage.
The Caravelle can fit nine suitcases with a boot capacity of 775 litres. If travelling with young children, the car is also compatible with front and rearward-facing child seats, with and without ISOFIX
Added features include USB & AUX audio port, air conditioning, climate control and Bluetooth compatibility. These benefits come on top of the traditional CD player and radio that you’d expect.
The Volkswagen Caravelle is not permitted to drive on F-Roads. Remember that off-road driving is highly illegal in Iceland, and can result in legal prosecution and/or hefty fines.
If you’re on the lookout for a roomy 4x4 that is easy to drive, the Caravelle is an obvious choice. It’s the perfect option for larger groups and families that have itineraries full of seeing Iceland’s most famous destinations on paved roads.
