The Golden Falls

Gullfoss (The Golden Falls)

Gullfoss is probably the most famous waterfall in Iceland. The water cascades down two steps, one 11 m high and the other 22 m, into the 2,5 km long canyon below. The waterfall is located in Hvita river in South Iceland and is a part of the famous golden circle route.


Dettifoss

Dettifoss

Dettifoss is the Europe’s mightiest waterfall. It is 44 m high and 100 m wide. It is possible to see the waterfall from both sides of the river. Dettifoss is part of the National Pak Jokulsargljufur in the north of Iceland. In the winter it can be difficult to drive to Dettifoss because of bad road conditions.


Hjálparfoss

Hjalparfoss

Hjalparfoss is one of serval waterfalls in the south of Iceland. It is located near the volcano Hekla in south of Iceland. The waterfall is not large but it’s very beautiful to see. It can be reach by a gravel road off route 32.


Selfoss

Selfoss

Selfoss is located 1 km south of Dettifoss in the north of Iceland. Selfoss is 8-14 m high and the river originates as melt water from Vatnajökull glacier.


Godafoss

Godafoss

Goðafoss is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Iceland. Goðafoss is located on the route 1, between Akureyri and Myvatn. The water of the river Skjalfandaflot falls 12 from a hight of 12 m over a width of 30 m.


Glymur waterfall

Glymur

Glymur is the tallest waterfall in Iceland. It is located in Hvalfjordur in the southwest of Iceland. It is 200 m high and falls into a steep canyon.
