  • Can I be sure selected vehicle is available?

    If the vehicle you selected during the reservation is unavailable during pick up, we will supply you with a similar model. We always guarantee the category, but not brand and/or model.

  • Can I drop the car off to any place in Reykjavik or Keflavik?

    Yes. We just need to know where you want us to pick it up, make sure that you send us your address when you book, if you forgot to include those informations you can always send the location to our e-mail lotus@lotuscarrental.is

  • Can the cars be delivered to any place in Reykjavik or Keflavik?

    Yes, just make sure that you submit your pick up location when you book the car.

  • Do I need 4×4 car?

    It depends on where you are going. If you are going to drive on F-roads you need 4×4. In the winter months (Oct-April) it is recommended to rent 4×4 for driving around the country. In the summer you don’t need 4×4 to drive the ring road but you always 4×4 when driving the F-roads

  • Do the rented cars have winter tyres during the winter?

    Yes all of our rental cars have good studded or spiked winter tires during that time.

  • Do you offer emergency breakdown assistance?

    Yes, we offer 24/7 emergency breakdown assistance which means you can call our emergency line every day, 24 hours a day. Lotus Car Rental has service partners all around the country if something breaks down or if something has to be replaced. If you have an accident or if the car breaks down we will of course replace the car with a new one.

  • How can I pay for my rental?

    Credit card payment is the only option to pay for your rental vehicle when you book online. We accept all credit cards.

  • How do I reach the emergency service?

    Call us at 00 354 787 4444 – open 24/7.

  • How old do I need to be to rent a car?

    Renter must be 20 years of age to rent a car.

  • I booked a pick up at the airport, how can I collect my car?

    Shuttle service that goes every fifteen minutes around-the-clock between airline terminals and to rental car lots.

    When you exit the customs area, continue straight ahead and outside the airport entrance. From there, you walk through a covered footpath and at the end of the path you will find the shuttle service. Read more here

  • I have a foreign driver´s license, can I use your service?

    Yes you can, even if you have a foreign driver´s license. Make sure to bring an international drivers license (translation) if our staff members at our local office will not be able to read your drivers license (for example when it is written in Chinese)

  • I want to drop off my car at the airport, how do I return it?

    Please return the car to our Keflavik Airport office. Our Airport office is located at Blikavöllur 3 - 235 Keflavik Airport. Our shuttle will then take you to the airport.

  • If I bring the car back early can I have a refund?

    No. Unfortunately no refunds can be given for unused or partly used car hire vouchers.

  • If I want to take a Highland road, does it matter what kind of car I am renting?

    Yes. You can only take the Highland roads on a 4×4 (4wd) car.

  • Is it possible to return the car outside of opening hours?

    Yes our drop off service is open 24/7.

  • Is there a minimum rental period?

    Minimum rental period is 48 hours.

  • What are F-roads?

    F-roads are Highland roads, marked on most maps e.g. F-35 (Kjolur) or F-26 (Sprengisandur).

  • What is included in the rental price?

    All rental price includes: 

    • CDW, SCDW and TP insurances
    • Unlimited mileage, 
    • Cheaper fuel and discounts at Olis gas stations
    • 24% VAT tax
    • Free cancelation for cancellations made more than 48 hours before start of rental 
    • No hidden fees upon arrival


  • When is your office open?

    Our office in Reykjavik is open from 9 am to 18 pm.

  • Where do I find Lotus Car Rental in Iceland?

    Our main office is at Blikavellir 3 - 235 Keflavik Airport. We also have office in Skeifan 15 in Reykjavik city. We deliver cars to any place in Reykjavik City. We also drop off and pick up cars at Keflavik Airport.

  • Which documents are necessary to rent a car?

    The driver´s valid passport (same applies to additional drivers).

    The driver´s valid driving license (same applies to additional drivers).

    A valid credit card.

  • Can I use a debit card?

    Costumers are able to rent a car with a debit card through our online booking system. However, if customer pay with a debit card we will charge 150.000 ISK in deposit upon arrival. The deposit will be refunded when the car is returned in good condition. If a customer purchases the Gold Insurance Package with the car the deposit amount goes down to 65.000 ISK. If a customer purchases the Platinum Insurance the deposit goes down to 0 ISK

    If you have a valid credit card we will not charge any deposit upon arrival.
